PLAYER CODE OF CONDUCT

POLICY

Virginia Lions Football Coaches and Owners play a vital role in encouraging physical, social, and emotional well being of each player. Therefore, it is essential for Virginia Lion players to embrace the values of good sportsmanship, discipline and character.  The Virginia Lions football organization is determined to operate with honor and respect in everything that it does. This determination is expected from all players, coaches, and staff and is outlined in the following code of conduct policy.

1. Players will be good sports (win or lose), be honest, fair, and always show good sportsmanship to all coaches, owners, players, officials, fans, and opponents.
2. Players will learn and practice the value of commitment to the team for the entire season, on and off the field.
3. Players will put personal goals aside for the betterment of the team.
4. Players will show courtesy and respect to coaches, owners, teammates, staff, cheerleaders, officials, fans, and opponents at all times regardless of race, creed, color, nationality, or sex.
5. Players will realize that athletic contests, including practice sessions are educational experiences and opportunities to enjoy the sport of football.
6. Players will not engage in unsportsmanlike conduct.
7. Players will not engage in rude behavior.
8. Players will abide by doctor’s and/or athletic trainer’s decision in all matters of players health and injuries, and physical ability to participate in games and practice.
9. Players shall not be under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs. In general, there shall be no use or possession of illegal drugs, tobacco, or alcohol products at any game, practice field, or in public while representing the Virginia Lions organization.
10. Players will not use curse words, or foul language at any time while representing the Virginia Lions organization.
11. Players will follow instructions from coaches, captains, officials, and owners at all times.
12. Players will bring 100% quality effort to their involvement with the Virginia Lions in all phases.
13. Players will abide by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia and the United States of America.
14. Players shall not be in possession of any weapons at any game, practice field, or in public while representing the Virginia Lions organization.
15. Players are expected to attend meetings, combines, practices, and games on a regular basis unless the head coach is notified in advance of the excused absence.
16. In general, there is a NO NONESENSE POLICY in affect at all times. 

Any and all violations will be handled on a case by case basis; disciplinary action that is taken may include but is not limited to verbal/written warning, suspension from games, and release from the team and organization.
