In 2010 the Virginia Lions will compete for a National Championship in the AFL, (Alliance Football League) which has been established since 1998. The AFL is a highly competitive national professional minor football league and has many teams throughout the United States. The AFL is divided into the NAC and AAC divisions where teams will compete on a regional level during the regular season, then move to playoffs in the fall. The Virginia Lions will travel mostly to the Baltimore and Central Virginia areas during the regular season for away games against the following teams:  Central VA Warriors, Baltimore Pirates, VA Spartans, and the VA Assassins. This league has a national playoff system that will allow us to compete with the best teams for the national championship. The AFL also has a players association which is in development and an annual All Star game which will definitely give players an opportunity to showcase their talents against the best players from around the country for a national audience.
