The Virginia Lions Football organization was established in the spring of 2009 in Northern Virginia. The purpose is to provide a professional sports organization that could unite the community by using a sports and entertainment venue to bring awareness to much needed community services. The Virginia Lions believe in making the community a better place for all by promoting volunteer work and setting great examples for the youth.
In 2009, the Virginia Lions inaugural season, the Lions competed in the LCFL, (LaBelle Community Football League) which has teams across the United States. The Lions traveled the east coast playing in major cities such as Boston, Philadelphia, and Washington D.C, just to name a few. Overall the Virginia Lions played as a seasoned team and finished strong with an overall record of 8 wins and 3 losses. The Lions ended the season with a dramatic win against the Northern Neck Rivermen in the first annual Virginia Lions Turkey Bowl.
In 2010, the Virginia Lions will again encourage growth and positive influence on the community and the youth, as well as help establish a common thread of team work amongst us all in the community. The Lions will leverage their strength of the Pride to perform for our community and our fans by hosting many different events. Some examples are community service, volunteer efforts, financial contribution to local and national charities, youth sports clinics, health and fitness awareness, and support local business through strong partnerships. The Virginia Lions Football organization is dedicated to you , the fans, and will always have the best interest of the community as a priority.
